ENTRIES for this year’s Colchester Rotary Festival of Music and Dance have now been opened and organisers are expecting another bumper crop of budding young stars.

The Festival, which takes place during June and July, provides an opportunity for performers to show-case their talent as dancers, singers or instrumentalists.

Last year’s winners included local rising stars, Dallyce Thiessen, of Philip Morant School and College, Colchester, and James Bowstead, of Colchester Royal Grammar School.

They were just two of the stars of the Finale Concert, who performed in front of a packed audience which included Sir Bob Russell and the town mayor, Helen Chuah.

Entry forms and details of the classes are now available from Mann’s Music, High Street, Colchester, and Body and Sole, St John’s Street, Colchester. The closing date for applications is March 31.

Dancing classes will take place at the Colchester Institute on June 23 and 24, while music categories are at the Colchester County High School for Girls on July 7 and 8.

The top performers will have an opportunity to participate in the finales, with the Dance Gala taking place at the Colchester Institute on July 6.

The Festival Finale Concert, where the Colchester Rotary Musician of the Year will be decided, is on July 14 at the Colchester County High School for Girls. Call 01206 562488.
