Calling all dancers with the Pole Factor

HAVE you got the Pole Factor? Then you might want to get along to Route Nightclub in Colchester next weekend.

Colchester-based pole dancing fitness school, Little Sapphires, is organising the Pole Factor event to give all styles of pole dancer, whatever background, experience, age, size or sex they are, the opportunity to perform in front of an audience.

Catherine Dachtler, of Little Sapphires, says: “This is not really a competition-based event.

“We want it to be seen as more of a chance to perform for fun and to get experience in a pole sports setting.

“We hope the outcome will be positive for people new to pole dance for fitness, with a fun, but supportive, look into the dance as a sport.

“With one of our judges being Jess Norris, Miss Pole Dance UK 2011, we are very sure it will be a superb event.”

Another of the judges is Southend-based Zara Berry, who recently won the UK Pole Artist Instructor title.

Contestants will be asked to choose their style of dance, fitting in with a set genre of music, with the three categories being rock and pop for sporty; rap and hip hop for freestyle and classical for artistic.

Catherine adds: “After the performer has danced, the judges will give feedback and then vote on whether the whole piece is strong enough to go through to the grand final in May next year.”

The eventual winner will receive a music video shoot with a recording artist of their genre.

Two of the confirmed artists are rapper Desire McNeish and classical singer Kyla White.

The Pole Factor takes place at Route Nightclub, Queen Street, Colchester, on September 17, from 4pm to 6pm.
