Singing superstar Rumer’s Regent concert

SINGING sensation Rumer has announced her autumn tour with a date in Ipswich.

Her November tour comes a year after the release of her debut album, Seasons Of My Soul, which has sold more than half a million copies in the UK.

The singer/songwriter has already sold out the Royal Festival Hall, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Notting Hill’s Tabernacle and the Bloomsbury Theatre.

Born Sarah Joyce, in Islamabad, Pakistan, Rumer is one of seven children.

When the family moved back to England, she first went to school in Carlisle before moving to Devon to study drama at Dartington College of Arts.

When her mother was diagnosed with cancer, Rumer went to stay with her and it was during this time that she began writing songs.

After her mother’s death in 2003, Rumer moved to London to pursue a musical career.

Thanks to high-profile music industry figures such as Burt Bacharach, Jools Holland and Elton John championing her, Rumer was last year’s singing sensation.

Her summer schedule will see the release of new single, Take Me As I Am, on July 5.

Before that, she will return to Glastonbury, where she performed on the tiny Greenpeace stage last year. This time she’s playing the main Pyramid stage on June 25.

Additional festival slots include Hard Rock Calling, at Hyde Park, London, on June 26, Latitude, on July 16, and Cambridge Folk Festival, on July 30.

Beginning at Blackpool’s Opera House, on November 10, her autumn nationwide trek concludes with a huge show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 22.

She plays Ipswich Regent on November 16.
