MISSED your funny bones being tickled? Don’t despair, because the Funny Farm is back for the summer.

Earlier this year, Colchester’s comedy club had to take a break due to organiser Hazel Humphreys moving temporarily to Portsmouth for work.

She promised to be back for the summer and has been true to her word, lining up a whole host of new comedy nights.

They start on Saturday at Slack Space in Queen Street, with up-and-coming local comedians including Dean Tolhurst, Janet Lovely, Kerry Souter and David Traynier.

With a set by Hazel, and compere and poetry from Mark Brayley, doors open at 7.30pm.

Entry is free, but seats have to be booked in advance by e-mailing colchesterslackers@ googlemail.com Following that a new Funny Farm will be starting at Stanway Rovers Football Club, New Farm Road, on July 26 with two Edinburgh Festival previews from Paul Foot and Yianni Agisilaou.

It will run every other month for the rest of the year.

On September 27, Shazia Mirza will headline and on November 29, Patrick Monahan will be the headline act.

Seats are £5-£7.50. E-mail funnyfarmwiv@hotmail.com giving your name, a contact number and the number of seats.
