A MUSICAL ensemble from Colchester Institute are about to slick it up at the Headgate Theatre, in Colchester.

The Slicknotes are a ten-piece funk/rock band comprising rhythm section, horn section and lead vocalist, who formed in 2007, while its members were studying for a music degree at Colchester Institute’s Centre for Music and Performing Arts.

The Slicknotes have gigged across Suffolk and Essex at various venues and have even gone as far-a-field as the Luton Discovery Centre.

Playing original material, as well as twists on songs by artists that have influenced the band, such as Ian Drury and the Blockheads, and the Killers, they play the Chapel Street North Theatre, on Friday, at 7pm.

Tickets are £4, available from the box office on 01206 366000.
