Breakthough in knee operations at Colchester hospital

A PRIVATE hospital will host an open evening this week to promote new technology aimed at making knee operations more painless.

The Oaks Hospital, in Mile End Road, Colchester, is now using a “Visionaire” system which creates a computer generated 3D model of a knee to help carry out replacements.

Knee replacements are sized and measured during the operation, but using the new system.

MRI scans and X-rays are used to assess the correct bone cuts to be made.

It shows the size of replacement required before the operation. Wednesday’s event starts at 6.30pm. To book, call 01206 753245.
