A Colchester gym is campaigning to remove VAT for its members.
Joanna Rigby, director at Gymophobics, said: “We speak to our members on a daily basis and it’s clear they are worried about the increase of VAT on their membership.
“As a gym owner, I want to be able attract new members, invest in my business and promote a healthier lifestyle within my local community.
“Time and time again we see members who have improved their health position through exercise, and by removing VAT from gym membership, we can afford to help more people.
“We are campaigning with www.NoVAT4Gyms.co.uk which has been created to petition the Government to address this issue. We are encouraging our members and the public to sign the petition, which will be delivered to Number 10.”
