A BUSINESS pressure group has rallied round a coffee seller whose trade is threatened by a train station’s refurbishment plans.
Nigel Clark will be forced to move his business on Marks Tey station platform when work starts in the autumn. He has been selling coffee and newspapers at the site for almost ten years.
National Express East Anglia wants to move the stall to a new building at the station entrance and increase his rent from £2,200 a year to more than £7,000.
Iain Wicks, chairman of North East Essex Federation of Small Businesses, said: “Clearly it is good news National Express East Anglia is investing in improvements at Marks Tey railway station.
“However, we are concerned the retail concessions at the station will be changed and higher rents will be due.”
