Barbers’ shop a real snip for Marguerite

A MOTHER went out in search of a house in Colchester – and bought a business.

Marguerite White, from West Mersea, had been looking for somewhere to live when she spotted an empty barbers’ shop in Alexandra Road.

The 41-year-old, who was born and bred in Colchester, said: “I just stumbled upon it. I had a look around and, two weeks later, I was in here. It all happened so quickly.”

The shop, which has been a barbers for 50 years, had been closed for four months when Mrs White took it on.

It has now opened as Blades Barbers and Mrs White said: “I have had a lot of local people say they are pleased to see it open again.

“There is quite a lot of local support for it as many people don’t want to have to go into town.”
