A COLCHESTER sports firm has set its sights on expansion after winning £1.2 million-worth of contracts.

Sportsafe UK has won seven new contracts with councils from across the UK to service, manufacture, repair and fit sports equipment.

The firm, founded by John Neill, in his Great Horkesley garage in 1996, now looks after the fitness equipment for 12,000 schools across 60 councils.

It employs 40 people at its headquarters in Colchester, as well as staff at its warehouse in Fort William and Nottingham branch.

Mr Neill is now planning to open bases in Manchester, East Sussex, Oxfordshire and in the North-East.
