APRIL Fools' Day could arrive 24-hours late for one lottery punter - and cost them a cool £167,000.

The EuroMillions player bought their ticket for the October 5 draw in the Colchester area, and matched the five main numbers - 11, 20, 27, 35 and 44 - and one of the two lucky stars, which were 2 and 5.

But the holder has never come forward to collect their £167,477.30 fortune, and they stand to forfeit every penny if they fail to claim by 5.30pm tomorrow.

Now, in a last-ditch effort to find the winner, National Lottery organisers are urging players to dig out and double-check their old tickets.

A spokesman said: "We're desperate to find this missing ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings - this really could be the best way to have the last laugh this April Fools' Day.

"Just imagine how much of a fool you'd feel if you didn't check your numbers and later found out you had the winning ticket all along."
