Lisbie could face Baggies

COLCHESTER United physio Tony Flynn has refuted claims that hotshot striker Kevin Lisbie will be sidelined for four weeks by a calf injury picked up in Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Norwich City.

There had been speculation in some parts of the media that the U's uphill task to avoid relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship had had its gradient raised a notch or two with the news that Lisbie would be ruled out for a month.

However, U's physio Flynn has moved swiftly to deny that is the case and said the 29-year-old could be fit to feature in the trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The news will come as a huge boost to Colchester, with Lisbie's form being a bright spark amid the gloom of a run that has seen them go nine games without a win in the Championship.

rumours Lisbie currently has 15 goals to his name this season and despite the poor sequence of results, has struck five times in the last six games, including the one at Carrow Road last weekend.

Flynn said: "I don't know where these rumours came from but I have been with Kevin for the past few days and four weeks has never been mentioned as a time frame."

Lisbie is only of only three players that come out of the whole season with any credit. He along with Jackson and Gerken will be off in the summer and I begrudge none of them the opportunity to remain in the Championship. I hope that the money we get from these players is used effectively in the summer this time and not wait until January when we are in a mess.

Too many passengers in the rest of the squad including the management team, and I hope that at our final stop at Scunthorpe they miss the bus on the way back and have to find their way to another club.

We can't afford to be carrying any passengers next season if we want promotion, and we are no longer little old Col U where mid table in the third tier is considered an achievement.

The previous two years raised the bar and what was considered acceptable in the past will not be considered acceptable now.

Good news. One of only 3 players to emerge with any credit this season in my eyes. He is off to Palace in the summer. I checked out the story in The Sun yesterday and apparently its true according to my insider. All the best Kev. Can you take Jamie Guy with you and drop him off at AFC Hornchurch on the way. Oh no sorry he wouldnt make the squad there!
