Halstead: Marie Curie fundraising party welcomes hundreds

A woman whose family has been affected by cancer staged a Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Jane Acres, 49, held the party at her home in Gardeners Road, Halstead, today, with a barbecue, cream teas, face painting and stalls.
“I would say we had a couple of hundred people come on and off during the day,” she said.
She is totting up the final amount raised, which will include donations from supporters who have held garage sales.
It was the second year she had organised the fundraiser, after her brother-in-law, Steven Hammond, died from a brain tumour, aged 60.
