Tesco to open eighth Colchester store

TESCO has been given the thumbs up to open its eighth store in Colchester.

The new Magdalen Street shop will share a space with St Helena Hospice.

Work at the Tesco Express is expected to start in the next few weeks and create 20 jobs for local people.

Bosses at the supermarket giant hope it will be open by the end of the year.

I do not know why Tesco wanted an Express there anyway with Aldi just over 200 yards away. Does not make sense or do they have an ulterior motive?

Tesco will struggle to compete with Aldi, especially if Aldi extend their opening hours again.

Tesco are already in double figures under other names. How could CBC possibly grant planning permission for a Tesco's here. The traffic congestion is already horrorendous and this will make it worse. What are CBC thinking about. . Get a nice busy road that is already bunged up so lets put a Tesco there. Well done again the planners.

Treadstone is verifiably insane (CAPS MAKE YOU LOOK CRAZY SEE)

Regardless, I hope for a Warriors-esque battle between the two competing stores.

Aldi, with its cheap and cheerful, easily accessible approach is the clear underdog to emerge with a plucky, can do attitude.

Tesco, meanwhile, maintains a dominant, Ivan Drago like persona - such a clash of forces will hopefully cause a rival company fuelled carnage akin to that of the Anchorman battle.

8 stores in Colchster, that's terrible.

The UK should build governmenet owned supermarkets, use local farmers/growers etc, then use the profit to better the area and for other important things.

I hate seeing Tesco grow bigger and bigger, the bosses get richer and richer, and what do they give back to the UK/Colchester?

I don't know any Italian families in Colchester with the name James Franco.
disillusional twits who name themselves after Hollywood actors normally means you are nowhere near intelligent or good looking.
however you might resemble son of the green goblin.
caps lock was to make a short post look prominent but unfortunately curried a pillock of a remark from an imbecile such as quoted.
and by the way i am bi polar not verifiable insane if you must know a badge i wear with pride.
