Duke of Kent opens Wivenhoe House
A TRAILBLAZING initiative, made in Essex, has been given the Royal seal of approval. The Duke of Kent officially opened the Edge Hotel School at Wivenhoe House - a partnership between the University of Essex, the Edge Foundation Education charity and Kaplan, a US-based group which provides training and education across the world. Former Home Secretary and Education Secretary Lord Kenneth Baker was at the opening in his role as chairman of the foundation. He said the model, whereby students study for degrees in hotel and culinary management while working at a fully functioning hotel, should be replicated across the country. And he said he would lobby Prime Minister David Cameron for his support. read more
