Gritters out in force in Essex as cold snap hits

GRITTERS will be a common sight in the coming days as icy conditions return to Essex.

Essex County Council says it plans to maintain a full service for the rest of the week, as it has done throughout the winter.

Highways cabinet member Norman Hume said: "With temperatures set to fall again this week, our fleet of gritters will be treating the main road network to make sure the county is kept moving.

“I would urge motorists and pedestrians to travel with extreme caution in icy conditions.”

"GRITTERS will be a common sight in the coming days as icy conditions return to Essex". Yeah, just like last time, about as common as rocking horse manure I bet! The big question is do they have enough grit to put in them this time round?
