Deprived Harwich needs help now

With regard to Harwich being a deprived area, I moved here from London last March and have realised what a deprived area it is I live in.

I was interested to read an article in your paper where a Mr Stock said that Jaywick is not a special case, so does not need extra funding. Well, I can assure you, Harwich does.

It’s the poor relation. Let us have some of the millions which are supposed to be given to North Essex.

We pay an enormous amount of council tax with not return. Tendring has long forgotten Harwich, which years ago was a thriving community – and could be again, if given the chance.

It has nothing to do with the recession, this town has been going down for years.

Give us a fair share of the spoils Tendring and see what a difference it could make to our town.

We have more and more people moving here from the East End of London due to the Olympics with nothing to do when they get here; no jobs, no High Street. We desperately need to be revamped.

I, myself, live in a bungalow on an estate where there are literally 1,000 people living and we have one local, very good, small grocers. He is open all hours, but we could do with so much more.
