HUNDREDS of music fans rocked out at a popular festival.

Cosmic Puffin, now in its ninth year, was held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Mersea Youth camp, in Reswalls Lane, East Mersea.

As well as the dozens of bands across several different stages, creative workshops were held for those looking for an alternative form of expressing themselves.

The event raised money for premature baby charity Bliss, The National Autistic Society, Animals Asia, Help Roxie Walk and Aid Life, which cares for patients with adrenoleukdystrophy, a rare inherited disorder of the adrenal glands.

Organiser Jamie Anderson said he couldn’t believe the scale the event has grown to.

He said: “It has got better and better every year. We had a really good weekend with lots and lots of music and some promising bands.

“Last year we raised about £17,000 and I think we will get a similar amount this year, although we haven’t totalled it up yet.

“It started off as a one off event which raised £1,200 and somebody suggested we should make it a regular thing and do it every year.”
