NEIGHBOURS have been left shocked after police stormed a house to shut down a cannabis factory.

Several officers arrived in London Road, Marks Tey, late on Thursday night with a dog unit and smashed into the property which is close to the roundabout joining the B1408 and the A120.

Once inside they found a cannabis factory and enquiries continued the next day when officers were seen removing plants and equipment from the house.

A neighbour who did not wish to be named said he heard the force arriving on the night but had not been kept informed of any developments.

He said: “They arrived at 10.30pm with several police cars and a dog unit and then rammed the door in, smashing all the glass.

“From what they have been taking out it looks like cannabis plants and other equipment.

“The police were all morning, they just turned up and blocked the drive and didn’t say anything toa nyone.”

He added he was surprised to see drug factory equipment being taken out of the house.

“All I can say is there was no indication anything untoward was going on there,” he said.

Another neighbour said police had been camped on the section of the street all morning but to see any problems was very unusual.

She said: “My partner and I both left this morning and were shocked to see so many police cars. You never see anything like this here.

“I have lived on the street for three years and nothing like this has ever happened.

“There has never been any problems with police at all.”

Police left the scene at 1.30pm on Friday and a spokesman for confirmed enquiries were ongoing but no arrests had been made.

The Gazette asked how many cannabis plants had been discovered but was told the information was not available.
