A MAN has been released on bail after a fatal crash which killed a pensioner in Kirby Cross.
A 95-year-old driver died after a collision between his car and a tipper truck in Frinton Road on Friday night.
The victim was treated by paramedics but pronounced dead at the scene.
One man was arrested in connection with the incident, but has now been released on bail.
The 46-year-old Dagenham man was arrested by officers on the A130 near Benfleet, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving while unfit due to drink or drugs.
He was questioned at Basildon police station and has now been released on bail until March while officers conduct further enquiries.
