PLANS for a football stadium and 65 new homes between Clacton and Holland-on-Sea have been submitted.

Scott Properties want to build new bungalows on the redundant Colchester Institute playing fields off Gainsford Avenue.

Part of the planning agreement could also include a new pavilion and stand for Holland Football Club, as well an all-weather pitch and two training pitches for the community.

Residents attended a public exhibition last month. Final blueprints have now been submitted to Tendring Council for 39 two-bedroom and 26 three-bedroom homes on the six-hectare site, along with 214 car parking spaces.

A survey of 115 people found seven per cent were against the plans for the new sports facility, and eight per cent against the homes.

Architect Tim Snow said the site has already been allocated for housing and the “small stadium” will include some seating. A decision is expected by October 9.
