Police investigating the deaths of an elderly couple believe the blind
wife may have fallen downstairs while trying to get help for her sick
husband.
The woman was found dead at the foot of the stairs at their home in
Salisbury Street, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Her husband was dead in bed.
Police broke into the house yesterday after neighbours said they had not
seen the couple, both over 70, for a week.
