FLORIDA: Floodwaters and ''a sea of mud'' up to 30ft high swept across

parts of south-western Colombia, killing at least 16 people, leaving

dozens missing, and thousands homeless, local officials said yesterday.

In a sign of the terror that gripped the town of Florida, a town in the

Andes foothills, police said a man apparently shot himself dead as the

churning mass of mud and rocks roared toward him.
