Boys organise charity party for terminally ill dad

First published in News

THREE brothers who are still coming to terms with their dad’s terminal cancer organised a garden party to raise money for St Helena Hospice.

Josh Hadden, 15, and brothers Ben, 12, and Alfie, nine, organised a raffle, a bouncycastle andabarbecue at their Colchester home and raised £568.

They came up with the idea after their dad Craig, 43, was told he has a year to live.

The boys want to make the party an annual event in their dad’s memory, but were equally keen to make sure he was around to enjoy the first one.

Good of you. My mother has had cancer twice and although she's alive and healthy still, I understand your trauma, to a degree. Well done for being proactive and raising funds!! My thoughts with you all

What a wonderful thing to do!! Well done, boys. I had a friend who 'survived' breast cancer for 13 years then this year faded very quickly and died after being told last year she had 'months' to live. Please make sure you enjoy EVERY moment of every day with your dad. The time you spend with him is so precious, you must cherish it. I really admire what you are doing and the love and support you are showing each other as a family. That is truly wonderful.
