"Day of Action" makes big impact in Tiptree

First published in News

MORE than 750 kilogrammes of rubbish were cleared from Tiptree during a “day of action”.

Government agencies and local councils blitzed the village to tackle anti-social behaviour and litter.

The day included a big clean-up by officers from Colchester Council and Colchester Borough Homes.

Police, firefighters and Essex County Council Trading Standards teams also went door-to-door with safety advice and information about doorstep crime.

Meanwhile, speed checks were carried out, while parking wardens patrolled schools at opening and closing time.

More than 70 people took advantage of a “give and take” event at the village library, where they were able to swap unwanted items for something else.

Vouchers were given out by Colchester Council animal wardens for free pet chipping, while Connors Legacy dog behaviour experts offered advice on pet safety, welfare and fouling.

For the next three months, the Safer Colchester Partnership of local authorities and agencies will provide more resources to tackle residents’ concerns.
