A COMMUNITY fun day has been partly paid for using an anonymous donation from a kind-hearted donor.
Earlier this year, Dave Harris was one of about a dozen people who received a donation of £200 in the post.
Now Mr Harris has decided to put the money towards the Monkwick Community Fun Day, which takes place on Saturday between 12pm and 4pm.
He said: “Having this money has made things an awful lot easier than in previous years.
“We haven’t had to fundraise quite so hard.”
He added: “I like to think they would have wanted it to go to the community, so that’s what we’re doing.”
Saturday’s family event will have bouncy castles and other activities for little ones.
There will also be a free hot dogs so visitors.
Representatives from Essex Police, Colchester Council and Colchester Borough Homes will also be on hand to speak to residents.
