Three young boys were caught with the help of the police helicopter after an attempted break in at a cricket club.

The teenagers, aged 12, 13 and 14, fled after police arrived at Elmstead Grasshoppers Cricket Club in Church Road at about 6pm on Sunday.

They had been spotted trying to break into a shed in the grounds.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “They ran off on police arrival but the police helicopter was able to located them and they were arrested.

“They received a police caution for burglary trespass.”

The spokesman confirmed it was the trio’s first offence and so the caution was deemed suitable.
