THE FAMILIES of murder victims joined together in a show of solidarity for an anti-weapons march.
Six families, whose loved ones have been murdered, took part in the Only Cowards Carry march down Colchester High Street on Saturday.
The 300 strong procession was headed by Caroline Shearer, who set up the charity after her son Jay Whiston was stabbed to death outside a house party in Marlowe Way, Colchester.
She was joined by Jim Attfield's mum, Julie Finch, and his sisters Jo Robinson and Ashlee Waller.
Nicky Humphrey also marched in memory of her daughter Kirsty, who was killed by her former partner in her Colchester home.
They were joined by Ann Wilson, whose son Ian was stabbed to death in Clacton in 2007 and Wendy Orton, also of Clacton, whose fiance was murdered in an East London pub.
Dad Paul Dove and atep-mum Tanya Whitney, also travelled all the way from Hemel Hempstead to take place in the march in memory of their son Billy Dove.
Mrs Shearer, thanked all those who marched and said: "We won't give up, we will never give up.
"You don't see parents marching as a group and this is what we wanted.
"This is the only way we will get our children recognised, by sticking together and making a stand."
