A lorry has fallen into a ditch after its driver is believed to have collapsed at the wheel.

Ambulance crews were called to the B1070 in East Bergholt, near junction 31 of the A12, at 7.35am today.

A paramedic officer and the East Anglian Air Ambulance also attended.

The man, in his 40s, was taken by land ambulance to Colchester General Hospital with an air escort.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “His condition isn’t thought to be life threatening.”

Good job it didn't happen on the main road, and he only finished in a ditch. Hope the driver makes a full recovery but also that he is declared to be fully fit before he gets behind the wheel of a lorry again.
