The report suggests this was just a normal accident or mishap. How do you know that someone deliberately set fire to this car on the main road?
And setting fire to a car is a deplorable crime, but much less serious than a rape or a murder. So how come you want the putative culprit to spend more time in prison than a more serious criminal?

A bit over the top, I mean it wasn't even a real sports car, I could understand the reaction of it had been a Ferrari Testa Rossa or even a Triumph Stag.. but a piece of old Japanese rubbish really! :-)

"... a piece of old Japanese rubbish"? That'd be like the GTR and the NSX: more old Japanese rubbish! LOL There are those that prize the Skyline range of cars (going back to the fifties) because of their eclectic styling and lineage. And the fact they've been fast cars in their own right. Why are you comparing it to sports cars like the Testa Rosa and the Stag which are antiques? Because the Skyline is old? Where does it say that this was on old car? The article doesn't even say it was a sports car!

I'll go back to re-reading the Bhudeeka submission. That's fun, right there!

I think you will find that the headline is " Fire crews called to sports car blaze on A120" hence my use of the term 'sports car' I apologise if that was a little esoteric for you. But my comment of a 'bit of old Japanese rubbish' still stands, no one made sports cars like the british or the Europeans, Japanese, and now Korean copies don't quite cut the mustard. But hey, each to their own, I guess.

Oh, right. Missed the header. Sorry. And you are quite correct that no one made sports cars like the British. Maybe that's why the British drank warm beer: they had Lucas refrigerators.

I think the sports cars made by the Brits were not that good when you look at the quality, the fit and finish - the utter rubbish that they became as they rusted out and fell apart! The Stag was a beautiful car when new - as was the TR6, the MGs, the Healey's, Jags and Astons but I've driven all of them and they were not really that good! Your mildly racist derision is way off the mark, I think. The Asians make some fantastic sports and coupe cars (the GTR, the 370Z, the Mazdas and the Hyundai Genesis) and not so much the Brits, eh? The Jag is OK but expensice with a rag top (prefer my Merc hard top any day, thank you); the Aston - horribly expensive; the Lotus... ? The Bentley? Not a lot else out there realistically, is there? And what there is is unaffordable by most.

It is not in the least racist to dislike Jap crap, totally characterless vehicles, as I said each to their own, I would never buy a Datsun/nissan, of any type, in fact wouldn't even be seen in one.Very happy with my Euro trash, for innumerable reasons.
