FOUR people were rescued by helicopter after coastguards in north Essex were called to help more than a dozen people in 48 hours.

The traditionally busy weekend for all those who keep the sea and shore safe has not disappointed with a number of incidents with people needing help.

  • An elderly woman was taken to hospital after she fell on the beach in Frinton.

The 77-year-old was walking in Frinton when she slipped, at about 11.40am on Friday.

The coastguard were called to help her before she was taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital.

 

  • A broken anchor left a two-man canoe crew struggling against the tide in Jaywick.

     

The pair were trying and losing the fight against the tide at 3.30pm on Friday.

They were rescued by the Clacton beach patrol jetski and towed back to land.

 

  • Lifesavers from Walton were called to help after a motor sailor broke down off the coast.

     

The crew from the Walton RNLI lifeboat were called at 5.30pm on Friday to help three people onboard Narina who were stranded and unable to sail.

They were towed to Shotley Marina.

 

  • A SPEEDBOAT called Aunty Bubbles smashed into the shore after breaking down near Mersea Island.

Three people were onboard at 5.30pm on Saturday when the boat lost power and found its own route into Mersea Stone.

The three onboard had to be winched to safety by a rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham before they were brought to shore and helped by Mersea coastguards.

The boat was later recovered.

 

  • A RESCUE helicopter crew helped save someone from the sea after they fell of a jet ski.

Three people had taken out a jetski from Point Clear.

It was overdue and the coastguard was called once to help find it and again when someone was spotted struggling in the sea.

The jet ski, with two onboard was recovered by the Clacton RNLI lifeboat.

The rescue took place at about 5.45pm on Saturday.
