THIS year’s Colchester Half Marathon has been described as the best yet.

About 2,000 runners ran the 13-mile route around the town this morning, raising thousands of pounds for charity.

Proceeds from the day, which is organised by the Colchester Colne Round Table, will be donated to St Helena Hospice.

Many runners also collected sponsors for a variety of other charities.

Race director Matt Eaton said: “The feedback from runners has been the best we have ever received.

“I think it has been an unqualified success.

“Everything we have learned from the last three years has been turned into what is hopefully a fantastic race day experience.”
