A CONCERT will be held in memory of a man who was killed when a freak wave smashed through the window of a cruise ship.

James Swinstead, 85, from Eight Ash Green, was killed on February 14, on board the Marco Polo in the English Channel.

The father-of-two, who was with his wife Helen, was a member of Colchester Choral Society.

He served on the committee and supported the choir at all their concerts after he retired from singing.

The choral society has decided to dedicate its next concert, Mozart Requiem on Saturday, to Mr Swinstead.

The concert, which will involve the Colchester Sinfonia, will include performances of Ave Verum and the Requiem.

Tickets for the event, at St Botolph’s Church in Colchester, starting at 7.30pm, cost £15 and include refreshments.

Discounted tickets for under-18s and over-sixties cost £12, available from Manns Music and colchesterchoralsociety.co.uk
