A headteacher has issued a warning to parents amid claims of “an attempted abduction”.
Silver End Primary School headteacher Julia Palmer sent out a letter to parents yesterday to inform them that children have been given safety advice following the scare.
Mrs Palmer does not give the date of the alleged abduction in her letter, but police have investigated a report made to officers on Monday.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police were contacted shortly before 1.35pm on Monday following concerns about a man in a van on Broadway, Silver End.
“Officers spoke with two young girls and their mother and are satisfied no attempts were made to abduct them.
“The man didn’t speak to the girls and didn’t get out of the van.”
