A COLCHESTER road was blocked this morning after two cars collided.

The incident, which involved a black Peugeot 307 and a red Hyundai Accent, happened in Berechurch Road, in Colchester, shortly after 6.45am.

One car crashed through a brick wall and another careered off the road into a ditch.

An Essex Police spokesman said both drivers were treated at the scene.

One patient was taken to hospital with a head injury. The other, who had a leg injury, did not need treatement.

He added: "Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision and any witnesses who have not already spoken to police are urged to get in touch."

Anyone with information should contact PC Dan Bellingham, at Stanway Road Policing Unit, on 101.

The south end does but this stretch is littered with potholes, no white lines and overgrown hedges. They couldn't repair them when the road was closed for 7 months because they don't do sensible things like that !

Not the section where the photo was taken. Berechurch Road was only partly resurfaced.

Another wall down in Colchester along with all the damaged railings around pedestrian crossings in town. Also the damaged walls on St Botolfs and Balkerne Hill. Never repaired by Essex County Council despite the fact that an insurer would have paid out the funds. Disappear into thin air comes to mind!
