A NEW hotel is back on the cards for Colchester’s St Botolph’s Quarter under new plans which will create 100 jobs.

Last year, Colchester Council’s regeneration hopes were shattered when Travelodge pulled out of long-awaited plans to knock down St James House and Roman House and build a three-star hotel in their place.

Now, months after a cinema operator unveiled proposals to move into Roman House, an 85-bed hotel is once again proposed alongside restaurants, cafes, apartments and townhouses.

Nick Barlow, councillor responsible for regeneration, said: “I’m excited about the potential new development of the St Botolph’s site."
