A MODEL aircraft club has been grounded because it does not have a venue to fly from.
The Oakley Model Flying Club used to meet at and fly from a privately-owned field in Little Oakley.
The land is no longer available, so the 40-plus members have nowhere to go.
Stephen Oliver, chairman, said: “We are desperately looking for another site.
“We are happy to pay a fair rent for a suitable site, and there will be no need for the landowner to arrange for grass cutting or site preparation, as our members will happily undertake these duties.”
The site needs to have a flat area about 100 metres long for take-offs and landings and a clear line of sight for the flying area.
The club, formed in 1985 and affiliated to the British Model Flying Association, has strict safety tests all pilots have to pass before being able to fly.
