A MAN has admitted downloading indecent photos of children.
Police found 129 images on Hugh Maclean’s two laptop computers, including 15 at the second most serious level.
Maclean, 65, of Bergholt Road, Colchester, admitted two charges of downloading indecent images of children and two of possessing extreme child abuse images during a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday.
Recorder Charles Gratwicke delayed sentencing until a report is prepared by the probation service, but warned Maclean that custody will be utmost in the court’s mind.
The court heard Maclean downloaded 129 images between December 2011 and October 31 this year.
A total of 117 images were found on a Toshiba laptop computer and 12 were discovered on an HP laptop computer.
The scale used by the courts in rating the severity of child porn runs from one to five, with the five the worst.
In total, 71 were level one, nine were level two, 34 were level three and 15 were level four.
Maclean was given conditional bail to stay at his home address and will return to the court in January for sentencing.
