TEACHERS and pupils are celebrating receiving the highest possible praise in their school’s latest Ofsted report.

Birch Church of England Primary School, in School Hill, Birch, has been graded outstanding across the board.

In the report, inspectors said: “Pupils in all year groups make outstanding progress.

“By the end of Year 6, standards are well above the national averages and have been so for a number for years. Teaching is outstanding, particularly in mathematics and writing.

“Teachers have very high expectations of what pupils can achieve.

“Lessons are well planned and exciting and ensure pupils of all ages are keen to learn.”

Headteacher Kate Moore said: “It is an exciting part of the school’s journey. We’re very pleased.

“The children are excited.

The parents have been really supportive and congratulating us.”

The inspection report also said: “Pupils in this school love learning. This is the heart of everything they do. Their behaviour in lessons and around the school and their attitudes to learning are exemplary.

“Community spirit is high.

The school makes all pupils feel welcome and valued.”
