Boxted homes plan rejected
PLANS to build 45 homes in a north Colchester village have been turned down.
Houses were proposed for the empty industrial estate at Hill Farm, on Carters Hill, Boxted.
Property company Thomas Bates and Son put forward the plans after no buyer was found for the light industrial centre over the past seven years.
But planning officers at Colchester Council have rejected the application as the authority’s policies protect land earmarked for employment and officers declared there was no need for additional housing sites in the borough.
Roger Goodland, managing director of Thomas Bates and Son, said the firm was disappointed with the outcome.
