Take-away restaurant given permission to delivery pizza into the night
2:20pm Friday 18th October 2013 in News
A fast food restaurant has been granted permission to delivery pizzas until later at night.
Papa Johns, which is on the corner of North Hill and St Peter’s Street, will now be able to deliver pizzas until 11pm in the week and until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, in line with its opening hours.
In February, permission was given to turn the site into a hot food take-away with the condition that deliveries did not take place after 7pm.
Despite 11 objections from residents, Colchester Council’s planning committee approved the application.
Residents voiced concerns about delivery van parking and additional noise from the vehicles.
James Edwards, speaking on behalf of the restaurant, said: “It is expected that this area will be busy as vehicles enter the town centre.
“Papa Johns works hard to be a good neighbour. We are now aware of the concerns and are working with staff.”
