A HIGHWAYS chief has admitted the council had got parts of its pothole policy wrong.

Rodney Bass, responsible for roads at Essex County Council, made the admission during a full council meeting.

He was responding to criticism from opposition councillors over the road repairs contract with Ringway Jacobs and the way potholes are dealt with.

Mr Bass said: "With hindsight we probably left too much to the partnership.

"But I will be taking an oversight and I can assure you I spend every day of my time in here trying to ensure the efficiency of the partnership."
