Flood risk for Marks Tey still unresolved
FLOODING could reoccur in Marks Tey if waterways are not cleared according to a study.
A report by Essex County Council into several floods around the Wilson’s Lane and Mott’s Lane area has found blocked ditches and culverts could be behind the problem.
As well as covered roads, floods dating back to 2007 have affected at least one home and the Red Lion pub and many gardens and sheds.
The report does not single out a particular blocked watercourse and states the various issues are covered variously by the county council, Highways Agency, local landowners and households as well as the surface water sewers run by Anglian Water.
Nigel Fitch, chairman of Marks Tey Parish Council, said the report was an important step in resolving the problem, but a full solution could take some time as so many different authorities and people were involved.
