Lollipop lady role saved in Brightlingsea
AN UNDER threat school crossing patrol in Brightlingsea has been saved.
Essex County Council initially axed the lollipop lady role in Ladysmith Avenue when the existing patrol woman stepped down.
The move prompted anger from parents, nearby schools and the town’s mayor as the decision was taken based on an assessment when not all youngsters had returned to school.
However following a revised study by County Hall the role has been saved with a replacement lollipop lady introduced the next day.
A school crossing patrol manager said: “The new results identified a school crossing patrol was needed and conveniently the officer who previously resigned asked to return to the post, so it meant Essex County Council was able to reinstate an officer to the role straight away.”
