Doughnut fun run a big success
5:23pm Sunday 15th September 2013 in News
RUNNERS with bellies as big as their hearts lined up for a Doughnut Dash to raise money or Kidney Research UK.
200 adults runners and 40 children took their marks for the five kilometre race in Lower Castle Park on Sunday with entrants having to stop and eat a ringed doughnut at five intervals.
There was also a fun day with stalls, music and inflatable amusements for the whole family.
Organiser Katie Taylor was pleased with the success of the day – and that she didn’t have to clear up any sugary treats that competitors couldn’t keep down.
“I don’t think anybody was sick, even though a few people complained of feeling queasy,” Mrs Taylor explained.
