Plans for New York-style bar

A BAR in Colchester town centre is being transformed New York-style venue and a private members club.
Hoardings have gone up around the former Nineteen Bar, which is being turned into Hudson, a New York bar and grill, and the XV members club.
It will create between 40 and 50 full and part time jobs when it opens later this year.
The Head Street bar closed in May this year.
A planning application has been submitted to Colchester Council to make a raft of changes to the building.
The application says: “The Nineteen Bar and Restaurant is in the state of disrepair with outdated internal facilities.
“In order to bring the building back into a viable commercial unit, a substantial renovation and alteration is must.
“This will be achieved through a comprehensive investment on fabric of the building.”
Proposed changes include adding a first floor extension where a kitchen will be built, and creating a new shopfront.
The basement will be turned into a function room.
The application says half of the building will be used as a restaurant and cafe, open 10am to midnight, and the other half as a drinking establishment, open 10am to 2.30am.
