Man jailed for biting wife's ear in Tesco
4:00pm Tuesday 13th August 2013 in News
A MAN who bit his former partner's ear in a supermarket has been jailed.
James Parkes, 46, of Port Lane, Colchester, got into a row with Louise Baker in Tescs and ended up biting her ear.
He was restrained by customers while staff gave the woman first aid.
Earlier in the year Parkes was responsible for two road rage incidents - cutting up a bus and having a row with a family.
The court heard the offences were the culmination of a break down after he had lost his job, his shed had been burnt down and his dog poisoned.
Parkes admitted causing actual bodily harm and two counts of dangerous driving and was jailed for eight months.
Parkes was jailed for a total of eight months, banned from driving for two years and told to take an extended driving test.
He was also given a five-year restraining order to keep away from Miss Barker.
Nneke Akudolu, mitigating, told the court Parkes lost his job at the start of the year and had some kind of breakdown.
There had also been unspecified incidents when his shed was burned down and his dog was poisoned.
Miss Akudolu told the court Parkes wanted to serve the prison sentence and move on with his life.
