SCHOOLGIRLS are playing their part in marking Colchester Zoo’s 50th anniversary by decorating 1.3metre high giraffes.

Two blank giraffe figures have been delivered to St Mary’s School for Girls, which is one of more than 80 schools across Colchester taking part in the Stand Tall scheme.

It will see each school decorate its own figure, to go on show around the town during the summer.
Stand Tall is also raising money for Colchester Zoo’s charity Action for the Wild.

Pupils in both the lower school, in London Road, and the senior school, in Lexden Road, are taking part in the project.
