BUDDING filmmakers in Colchester are being given the chance to hone their skills by enrolling on an upcoming course.

Signals is a centre for creative digital learning, specialising in film education, digital art and media production.

The site has now announced its Signals Film School, designed to help youngsters interested in film develop the knowledge and skills needed to have a career in the industry.

The experience entails a week of workshops, masterclasses and talks from industry professionals, and practical lessons in filmmaking.

Those who take part in the course are then expected to create their own short film by the end of the course.

The scheme is aimed at participants aged 15 to 19 and the application deadline is March 18.

Tutors are looking for evidence of prospective participants' passion for film, be that through a love of films or videos and scripts they have already created.

Applications are now open, with the course itself costing £95 with free places available upon request.
