A SERIES of film showings is set to turn Castle Park into an outdoor cinema and concert location across the summer.

In recent years the park has been used to stage a number of open air cinema events. 

And 2023 will be no different with a host of films set to be shown. 

Running from August 10 to 13, seven events will fill out the park in a series of exciting events with food stalls and a fully stocked bar.

The films that will be shown include Elvis, Matilda, Grease, Top Gun and Child’s Play, with Ibiza music and Kidz Bop events set to turn the park into a concert venue for the evening.

Elvis

Thursday August 10 (gates open 6pm, film starts 8pm) 

The life of American music icon Elvis Presley, from his childhood to becoming a rock and movie star in the 1950s while maintaining a complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

Matilda and The Greatest Showman

Friday August 11 (12pm to 5pm)

Matilda is an adaptation of the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical. Matilda tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a sharp mind and a vivid imagination, dares to take a stand to change her story with miraculous results.

The Greatest Showman is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life.

Grease

Friday August 11 (gates open 5.30pm, film starts 6.30pm)

From the longrunning hit Broadway show comes one of the most popular screen musicals of all time. 70's pop icons John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John join some of Hollywood's old time favourite personalities in this valentine to the 1950's. Things are really hoppin' at Rydell High when Danny (Travolta) discovers the object of his "Summer Lovin'" fling Sandy (Newton-John) has moved to town and enrolled in his school. Rama-Lama Ding-Dong!

Child's Play 

Friday August 11 (gates open 8.15pm, film starts 9pm)

When serial killer Charles Lee Ray is mortally wounded in a police shoot-out, he uses a voodoo spell to transfer his soul into Chucky, a "Good Guys" doll. Young Andy receives the doll as a birthday gift, and Chucky soon resumes his killing spree. However, Charles doesn't want to be trapped in the body of a doll forever. His only escape would be to transfer into the first human he revealed his true identity to... which places Andy in mortal danger.

Ibiza Live in Castle Park

Music, DJs and streetfood plus children's entertainment. 

Top Gun Maverick 

Saturday August 12 (doors open 6.30pm, film starts 8.30pm)
